Self-Care Tips for Black Men

On May 26, 2020, it felt as though the world was in shambles.

A little over a year later, we’re still reeling from George Floyd’s devastating death.

Although the outcome of the George Floyd murder trial offers a sliver of justice, it doesn’t heal the hurt the Black community continues to feel.

More specifically, the hurt Black men continue to feel. 

It feels impossible to move on from such a painful time...but we do have to move forward. 

Part of moving forward includes taking care of yourself. Here are a few self-care tips that the men in your life can start doing today: 




Daily 15-Minute “Me” Time 

Between making an honest living, maintaining family relationships and friendships, and staying sane in a world that constantly keeps you on your have a lot on your plate.

It’s also likely that you have a lot on your mind. You owe it to yourself (and your mental health) to destress and decompress as often as you can.

Sometimes, you only need 15 minutes to get yourself together. Whatever brings you joy, add that to your daily routine.

Here are a few suggestions: 

  • Read an interesting book 
  • Listen to your favorite podcast or album 
  • Journal your thoughts or practice making a daily gratitude list

Taking a small break from your daily obligations is a great way to ensure you’re not breaking yourself down.

Pampering brings peace. You deserve it all.
